Module 5 of 8 · Course contents

The desk (annex 1.d)

Low-reflective and big enough to place the screen, keyboard, documents and materials comfortably. If you work with papers, a stable, adjustable document holder saves you from turning your head and eyes all the time. The workstation must leave room to change posture (annex 2.a).

The chair (annex 1.e)

  • Stable, letting you move freely, with adjustable height and a backrest that reclines and adjusts in height.
  • The INSST guide adds: lumbar support in the backrest, adjustable seat depth so the edge does not press your legs, controls you can work while seated and 5 points of support on the floor.

The footrest

  • The decree requires one to be made available to anyone who asks.
  • The guide recommends it if, with the chair already adjusted, your feet do not reach the floor: tilt from 5° to 15°, at least 45 × 35 cm and non-slip.
In practiceTo type with your elbows at desk height you raise the chair and your feet are left dangling. The fix is a footrest, which your employer must give you if you ask.
