The screen (annex 1.b)

  • Well-defined characters of adequate size, and a stable image without flicker.
  • Brightness and contrast you can easily adjust.
  • Swivelling and tilting freely, and free of disturbing reflections.

Where to put it (INSST guide)

  • Never closer than 30 cm to your eyes. With usual office screen sizes, between 40 and 75 cm.
  • The top edge at eye level, so you look between the horizontal and 40° below it and your neck does not bend more than 25°.

The keyboard (annex 1.c)

  • Tiltable and separate from the screen, with a matt surface.
  • With space in front to rest your arms and hands.
  • Keys that are easy to use and symbols legible from your working position; the guide recalls it must have «ñ» and the Spanish opening marks «¿» and «¡».
In practiceThe monitor sits on the desk and you look down all day. Raise it with a stand (or some books) until the top edge is at eye level, about an arm's length away.
