Preventive resource course free, with certificate

For foremen, team leaders, skilled workers and any worker whose employer wants to appoint them as a preventive resource (recurso preventivo) in Spain: when one must be present, who can be one, what minimum training the law requires (50 or 30 hours; 60 in construction), what it does on the job and how it works on building sites. A 25-question test and a theory training certificate in PDF, no sign-up.

What is the preventive resource? It is the person the employer keeps present at the workplace to check that prevention measures are followed when risks get worse because several operations overlap, when hazardous work is done (falls from height, burial, confined spaces…) or when the Labour Inspectorate requires it (Law 31/1995, article 32 bis). They must have at least basic-level training: 50 hours in companies with hazardous activities and 30 in the rest (Royal Decree 39/1997, article 35 and annex IV); in construction, the sector's general collective agreement sets a minimum of 60 hours. This course explains all of that in 7 modules, with a 25-question test and a PDF certificate. It is not the basic-level course nor the 60-hour course: that one is taught and certified by a prevention service or an entity with the capacity to do so.

Note: this is theory only and not a recognised course. It is not the basic-level course (50 or 30 hours) nor the 60-hour construction course, and it does not appoint you as a preventive resource: your employer does that, and the training is certified by a prevention service or an entity with the capacity to do so.

Frequently asked questions

Are the course and the certificate really free?
Yes. The 7 modules, the test and the PDF certificate are free and there is no need to sign up. LaborIA is funded by advertising.
Is this the 60-hour preventive resource course?
No. This course explains what the rules say about the preventive resource. The basic-level course (50 or 30 hours, Royal Decree 39/1997) and the 60-hour construction course are taught and certified by a prevention service or an entity with the capacity to do so; in construction, an entity recognised by the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción.
Is it an official or recognised certificate?
No. It is a free-format theory training certificate: it lists the contents, the rules, the date and your mark, with a code to check that it has not been altered. No body recognises it.
Can I be a preventive resource with this certificate?
No. Your employer appoints you, and the law requires you to have at least basic-level training (Law 31/1995, article 32 bis.4). This course helps you know what will be asked of you and what you will have to do.
What are the 50, 30 or 60 hours?
50 hours in companies with annex I activities of Royal Decree 39/1997 (construction, high voltage, mining, explosives…) and 30 in the rest (article 35.2). In construction, the sector's general collective agreement sets a minimum of 60 teaching hours (annex XII, section 3).
Do you keep my name or ID number?
No. The PDF is generated in your browser: your name and your ID are not sent to LaborIA or to anyone else.

Check a certificate

For employers: type the details exactly as they appear on the certificate. Your browser checks that the code matches that name, ID number and date. LaborIA stores no data, so this confirms the certificate has not been altered, not who took the test.
