The payslip (nómina) is the individual receipt that proves your salary has been paid. Your employer must pay you on time, on the date and at the place agreed or by custom, and the period for paying regular wages cannot be longer than one month (Workers' Statute, article 29.1).
The model
- The payslip follows the Ministry's model (Order ESS/2098/2014), unless the collective agreement or, failing that, an agreement between the company and the workers' representatives sets another one that shows earnings and legal deductions clearly and separately (article 29.1).
- Since 2014 the model also shows the employer's contribution to Social Security, so you can see the full cost of your contributions, not just your share.
- You can be paid in cash, by cheque or by bank transfer or a similar method through a bank, after the workers' representatives have been informed (article 29.4).
Advances and late payment
You are entitled to ask for advances on work already done, without waiting for payday (article 29.1). If the company pays late, the late-payment interest is 10 % of the amount owed (article 29.3).
